Most shades
are easy to care for and require only a minimum amount of upkeep.
Dusting - Stroke lightly with a feather
duster or clean, soft cloth.
Vacuum lightly - A vacuum cleaner
brush attachment may also be used for removing dust.
Sponge or Spot Cleaning - When needed,
fabric can be cleaned by gently blotting with a soft, damp cloth
or sponge using lukewarm water and a mild detergent.
Take extra care when cleaning opaque or "blackout" fabrics
to avoid creasing and pilling.
Pleated shade material is coated with a special formula that aids
the pleat in holding its shape and retaining its pleat. Take care
when cleaning pleated shades so this coating is not removed.
Bathtub Cleaning - SOME types of
cellular shades can be cleaned by immersing them in the bathtub.
Immersion IS NOT recommended for pleated shades, roman shades and
roller shades. To clean the entire shade, immerse the assembly in
lukewarm water with a mild detergent and move it around lightly
with your fingers. Wash for about five minutes, then rinse with
clean water. Close the shade before removing it from the rinse water.
Holding the rails, tilt the shade to allow excess water to escape.
Re-install the damp shade back into the window opening and lower
the shade all the way to allow it to dry completely.
Ultrasonic Cleaning - Shades can
be ultrasonically cleaned by a professional. If using this service,
a mild detergent solution must be specified. The headrail cannot
be immersed in the solution and the shades must be allowed to dry
in the completely lowered position.
Follow Manufacturer Advice . . . It
is best to use the products and procedures recommended by the manufacturer
for cleaning your shades.
